Asa Ransom has left NY and embraced LA…

Asa Ransom has packed up their van and relocated to LA (Temporarily?), at least for the months of November and December where they’ll be sonically hypnotizing audiences to vibrate the floorboards.  After, working on their new ep “GOLD” which can be downloaded for free here at toilet records they’ve decided to book themselves over a dozen shows in the LA, Hollywood, and seattle area.  They’re sound is described as,

“Dance-inspired, dramatic style of instrumentation is upbeat and delivered with vibrant intensity. Vocals drift through an epic of phantom sounds and sudden garland. Melodic bass and feral drums rumble under chiming guitar and percussive keyboard, conjuring at once memories of the east and textures of the future.”

Check out there tour schedule below.

David Shane Smith – Cloud Pleaser

Toilet Records is super stoked to welcome David Shane Smith (Stroboscopic Records) and his self-released 10 song album, ‘Cloud Pleaser‘. David sheds the singer/songwriter skin on this record with mature compositions accompanied by industrial blips, beeps, and haunting vocal textures with lyrics that stab through the music right into your brain. It’s a bit like reading while your dreaming.

David performs his set in 2 parts, one is hunched over drum machine synths while holding the mic melodically sputtering words into it. The 2nd half of his set is completely stripped down with David and his nylon strung classical guitar.  His words spill out over soft strummed chords as he chirps the melodies of these memorable ballads.

David moved from Brooklyn to LA. Check out http://www.myspace.com/davidshanesmith for show updates.

Download this limited free digital copy of ‘Cloudpleaser‘ here at www.toiletrecords.com and purchase the physical copy online http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/davidshanesmith

You can also check out David Shane Smith and other artists on Stroboscopic Records.

Sigmund Droid Releases New EP

NYC’s Sigmund Droid is back. With a piercing sense of proportion and correspondence, this minimalist scuz-grunge duo chisels post-punk bricks out of Brooklyn’s sedimentary rock scene. Terrifying the rich and educated, their powerful sound thunders to the core and keeps fans wanting more.

Lead Vocalist/Bassist Solomon Gezari and Drummer Pablo Douzoglou merge their diverse musical backgrounds into a swirling vortex of extremes. From boisterous punk anthems to sassy hook-driven dance tunes, their compositions run the gamut of rock genres while maintaining a brutally mathematical coherence. Don’t assume you know what’s coming next because Sigmund Droid is a rock n’ roll chameleon that will mix up the past and the present to create fiery songs for the benefit of your future.

2nd Unelectric Show for Bonnie Baxter w/Special Friends April 29th

This will be the 2nd time that Bonnie Baxter is hosting a Non-electric element in this showcase of bands that don’t fit in the traditional sense of the acoustic atmosphere.  They’ll have no pedals to pound on, no tube amps for feedback, no laptops for beat/noise making, and only a small blue suitcase to act as a bass drum with a snare and hi-hat for the drummer.  Special friends will include Leilolai, Red Romans, Sigmund Droid, and Bonnie Baxter.  Perhaps a special secret guest will perform (Hint Aas Mosnar). Come out for this special night of music for bands not particularly used to an intimate setting. Don’t miss this historical performance :) .
